Open Question: Resume and putting in my yearly pay?
On a resume, would it be okay to put next to my different job positions, how much I made a year?
for example:
ExxonMobil Production Company
Administrative Assistant: $35,000/yr
job duties,etc...
Shell Oil
Administrative Assistant: $25,000/yr
job duties, etc...
is that tacky? I've heard of using this approach so that the hiring manager knows what pay I've gotten before, and can adjust his offer accordingly, but does that work?

Open Question: I can't find an entry level job in accounting...is it possible to start working after passing the CPA exam?
The economy sucks right now...i think get a job in a clerical field IF i'm lucky. I graduated in December 2008. My Bachelor is in Economics and my minors are in mathematics and political science. I realize that if you wanna do anything in finance other than sales or management, Accounting's the way to go...but i realized it too late. I have experience as a legal assistant (intern), financial services (intern), and research analyst (intern). I graduated from a decent school (University of California, Irvine) with a 3.347. I still cannot find any job, not even in the administrative/ clerical field. maybe the fact that i live in Orange county has something to do with it (I am currently targeting LA and OC). I was wondering if i should go on and accept an administrative position for the time being (until something in Accounting comes along). Also, is it okay for someone to take the CPA exam first and then start their work experience in accounting, or do the employers doubt your capability if you do that? I would really appreciate any advice/ insight. I just feel really lost right now.

Open Question: Penn Foster Human Resource Management?
I wanted to know is the penn foster college online in the Human Resource Management program worth it in my situation? I want to become a Human Resource Assistant. I love doing administrative work! I could also become an administrative assistant as an option. I am not planning on going to get a bachelor degree, although a few colleges might accept them since there approved by ACE. The reason why I don't want to go to college is because in a couple more years from now my family is started a business and I'm going to be working at the business. The thing is I just got out of debt and now I am debt free in 2009. And if things don't fall through with the family business I would want to gain an education and make a career to support myself. What is your suggestion? Thank You!

Resolved Question: How can I improve my cover letter?
Hello,
For the past year, I have enjoyed a contractual position in X Company's Access to Care Foundation and Access Solutions programs. As an Intake Coordinator, I have processed a high volume of faxes in a timely and diligent manner, entering patients? information into the company database. I have answered a high volume of calls with enthusiasm and empathy, and have worked to be a productive member of these teams. Having reviewed your job posting for the Administrative Assistant on Craigslist, I believe I would be well qualified for your position. Can we talk?
Thank you.
Alexander Huegel
Jenn, can you give me an example of something I might say about myself on my cover letter that wouldn't be listed on my resume? All I can think of is, "I'm a nice guy and get along well with coworkers," but that seems kind of bland.

Open Question: How do I explain this reason for quitting my job? ?
When I left my job, it was under very stressful circumstances. Back in March, I filed formal Human Resource complaints against my boss. For a few months prior to that, he began to get more and more verbally abusive and the final straw for me was when he called my 5 year old son a "f*ggot".
Nothing happened to him and I "allowed" to keep my job, moving to another department that was in need of an administrative assistant (my title working there for boss # 1 as well). Travel was not part of my terms of employment with them from the start because I am very confined to child care options. The boss decided to have an overnight 3 day teambuilding retreat that I could not go on because I had no one to accommodate the needs of my son. She actually held a department meeting and let all 12 people take turns in the room telling me why I am not a team player and suggest things from having strangers take care of him to keeping him out of school for the week.
Beyond appalled at the second boss, I quietly spoke to the HR Manager and just wanted to leave at that point. I was afraid that if I stayed I would be fired or have to continue working in hostile circumstances. I was afraid if I made formal complaints about the second round of problems, I would be seen as a trouble maker and would always have a tough time working there. I wrote up a resignation letter citing desire to change industries as my reason for leaving. My fear was both scenarios would effect my ability to get a job in the future.
My problem now is that I seem to be bombing when I have to answer the dreaded interview question "Why did you leave your last job?"
I have read to never present your former employer in a negative way, so I haven't said the company seems to be intolerant to working mothers and let's it's executives get away with harassment so even though I did the job well (the reason I was never fired) I just could stand working in the environment anymore. I've given reasons like "Waiting to change industries" or "Couldn't accommodate the new overnight travel requirements of the role" and I just don't think these reasons are working for me. I'm starting to think that sugar coating the real reason a little bit more would be better but I just don't know.
Please....any suggestions about my situation you have are welcome.
