Resolved Question: if sex is prohibited for certain "holy" leaders, why doesn't the church require chemical castration? (read)?

seriously- the opponents of this say that as a punishment for pedophiles it is unjust and unconstitutional-
here, bieng a priest or nun (or similar religious figure in any religion that can't have sex), is VOLUNTARY.
if one of the requirements is that they can't have sex- why doesn't the church (or whatever religious orgainization) requrie this of its holy people?
it would greatly uplift the image of the catholic church and prevent any pedophilia issues before they become an issue, and it isn't permanent, once they go off the depo provora (whatever) they become normal again.
and many of the critisisms that apply to people who have unusual sexual urges (pedophiles and sex offenders) such as the failure to continue to stay on and to "rebel" against the treatment as you are essentially giving people a "boost" who strive to act that way anyway.
how come the church doesn't require this of clergy?
it is not "cruel and inhuman" it is a number of constitutional issues that arise and the nature of the cruelty is that you are bieng punished AFTER they have served thier time- on that issue IMO thats too bad, but we are not talking about punishment here, we are talking about a voluntary requirement that one makes the choice to undergo if they want to be a priest- if they don't want to do it- don't be a priest.
actually if they make the choice to be a priest this is making thier job easier because ideally they are choosing to give up the very thing (sex) which the drug causes you to lose desire for anyway.
If anything, under the circumstances its a benefit for the priest.
YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT READING THE QUESITON-
this is not to single out priests as pedophiles- it is to help them ALL resist thier sexual urges- the regular priests and pedophiles alike. This was suggested becasue the priesthood is the ONLY profession I know of that has a "celebacy" requirement written into the job description. this drug furthers the WHOLE CELEBACY thing for every priest, nun or whatever, not as a punishment- as a requirement.
