My ex husband was laid off in the spring of 2008 and in December his unemployment ran out. He lives with his girlfriend who will support him im sure but of course I am no longer getting any child support for my three children..I work at a minimum wage job but it is not cutting it for me and my children and I do no want to go to Social Assistance if I can help it...are their any other programs available that can help me out for a little while or until his lazy butt goes and finds a job?? I'm 18 years old (will be this Saturday, Jan 10). I sort of started on school too early... and now I am a graduating college senior. I will earn my B.A. degree in May 2009 and start on my M.A. Fall 2009, as well as my teaching credential. I live with my parents, step-father and mother, and my 12 year old sister. I am officially employment with a local school district and my salary makes up around $600 on average per month (for the past 6 months calculated, it came up to $3100). I pay for pretty much everything in the house... I contribute equally to the rent, groceries, car insurrance (shared vehicle), gas, clothes, and other expenses such as bills. I don't mind that we file taxes together. Here is the problem. We are a low income family, and I am receiving financial aid for education. For my B.A., I was listed as dependent. HOWEVER, now for my Master's, the FAFSA application says that since I will be a graduate student, my status automatically changes to independent (independent is either if you are 24 years old, married, have children, or are in grad school regardless of age, which is what I am). So it didn't let me register as dependent. I am not married. I don't have children. What do I do? On the form when I put "independent", it says to put the number of people... and I don't know whether to just list myself, or all 4 of us... Can someone please help? Thank you. (more...)

Is there any benefits to baby modeling? Other then parents getting money for their child? Has anyone here ever gotten their baby/toddler in a commercial or add? I have been thinking about this, not because I want my son to be in commercials, but I was interested in the Gerber baby contest(which I can't find any information on anyway). Anyone have thoughts? And I don't need a lecture on how it's bad...I shouldn't do it. I know that already...I think my son is gorgeous, but I wouldn't put him through commercial shoots or anything. My mother who is 44 is so damn close-minded somtimes i want to throw a shoe at her or punch her in her face. I hate her stupid opinions on gay people, promiscuity, etc. What pisses me off she has this tendency to always blame the victim inn rape cases. She does not believe rape or molestation can happen to anyone that is not a child. It is so irritating hearing her call these people liars. Gosh, I get I'm not perfect or whatever. The rest of the family has given up on changing her beliefs, they just ignore her. But I just keep yelling at her and giving her attitude hoping maybe she'll change. But it is does not look like a possibility. Oh yeah if a guy cheats on a girl according her, "boys will be boys." If a girl cheats, she is a wh0r3. rrrr. how can I learn to deal with my mothers opinions? Is there any point trying to change her? (more...)

So for example I have a parent and she abuses me not only physically but mentally too... And say Im taller than my parent (mom). And shes stronger than me but im taller by maybe 5 inches... And she has anger problems so if she doesn't get what she wants she will ruin your life, and if I just brush it off like i don't care she will beat me up.. and I don't hit her but I push her away in self defense. Whose side do you think the police will be on? and for example we got into these fights because I didn't want to do a chore until she apologized for lying to me... Whose side will the police be on? Even if my so called mom lies and makes up a story.. And my maybe sister sides with her because she is afraid of her and hates me for no reason... What should I do? I don't want to call the police but I can't take this anymore. I found a gray hair on my head today, i must be really stressed out.. My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years and it hasn't always been such smooth sailing. I think we are incompatible and we just haven't realized it until recently! I have been blindly in love with this man for many years and it's not that he doesn't love me back but we have never really seemed like we are working towards a common goal. I want to live in the country, on a farm with a million dogs, maybe a couple horses, a goat to mow the grass ... you know that kind of thing. He is a city slicker and loves it here! I moved to the city to be with him and absolutly hate it ... I love the peace and tranquility of a hammock and a good book on a nice spring day. He loves the excitement and hustle bustle of city life! I am unhappy here and don't want to raise my child in the city where drugs and other things could tempt her. I would rather she have the same upbringing as my own. He was raised in the city and ran away from home, experimented with drugs and alchol and much more. I am not saying that everyone raised in the city is going to do those things but the opportunity is there. I don't feel the same way anymore about him either ... before I was blindly in love and did everything to make sure he was happy and all his needs were met ... but when it comes to my needs and I ask for more affection or cuddles or something he doesn't even try, he just says that is not who he is and I can't change him. Shouldn't there be some sort of compromise? It's not like I am asking for the world here! I want to feel loved and appreciated and respected! I feel like I give him everything he needs why can't he give some back? I am not happy anymore and I want things to change ... but I don't want to have to give him an ultimadum ... I love him and want to be together but I absolutly cannot spend my life like this! I want to be happy and in love deeply and completly ... but more and more I feel like that is slipping away. Should I stay or should I go? I love myself too much to settle for something less and make someone else happy! I know I can find the love I want if I go out and get it but I want to give that opportunity to him! We have a daughter together but I don't think it's right to raise a child in a relationship if one or both parents are unhappy with it. I am a great person and he should be tickled to be with me! I am strong, sucessful and independent and he's going to lose the best thing that has ever happened to him but by the time he figures it out it's going to be too late for me to turn back! How do I make him see how unhappy I am and what I need before it's too late? Please give me some advice!! (more...)
