has a real liking for religious music? The words of hymns and carols mean nothing to me as religious writings, but I love a carol service, and some hymns, especially Abide With Me, sung by a good operatic tenor, or Welsh male voice choir, can make my toes curl. Blake's Jerusalem is another example. I think its because this music was written with such passion by people who put their hearts into it. I may not agree with their views on the existence of a God, but I can enjoy their talents. Any other atheists like me? Yes Henry, Amazing Grace is another one I like, and if you have never seen that movie I recommend it. It isn't religious, just the story of a slavery abolitionist. Amazing Grace was written by an ex slave ship captain who realised what he had done and spent the rest of his life trying to atone for it. (more...)

Isn't this true and credit where it is due. You go to Holland and they are in business there where tourism services in Amsterdam are hosted by so many Arabics in e.g. the accomodation internet & international phone booths taxis fast food and restaurant trades. Holland is a world away from Arab culture yet these people get busy have an eagle eye for supply and demand work hard and make a major contribution. Same goes for england and wales. How odd must wales and welsh be for Arabics for gods sake yet they settle run businesses and maintain sustainable lives for their families as well as providing services at unsociable hours while locals are in pubs or slumped in front of a televison all weekend. How is it these people can do this all over the western world and western people won't even try a half of it or do nothing but complain and expect everything to be laid on for them and are now crying economic downturn. Have you heard any Arabs whingeing about the so called credit crunch ? Ever heard of an english king beheading one of his own six wives ? I'm asking about admirable business prowess and dedication to hard work not media stereotype. (more...)
