Open Question: Can you suggest any titles to my book?
Well i cant figure out any to put its a saving people book sort of romantic but not the main thing. heres the first chapter Chapter 1 ?Let me tell you a story, Sophie? I said as I perched her on my bed. Yesterday, Sophie had turned eight; I figured I would tell her since my parents told me at eight too. It was then I noticed her talking to me that I stopped glazing into her big green eyes. ?Amy!? she whined. ?Yeah?? I asked snapping out of my thoughts. ?You said you would tell me a story!? she groaned. ?I am? I smiled and ruffled her light brown hair. ?Yay!? she clapped in happiness. I walked to her, clasped her hands in mine, and sat by her. I noticed the black covers of my bed already messed up. I turned to her just to see her staring at me. I hesitated then sighed. ?16 years ago on August 17, 1992, 4 babies were born into St. Maria?s Hospital.? ?Just like you, Max, and Sam!? she commented ?As I was saying, 2 of each gender. The Doctors realized that the four babies had an extra organ near their shoulders. They needed to investigate so they held the babies in a month longer than usual. They tested and tested but could not come up with anything. They held a meeting with the four pairs of parents and discussed that their children were different. The extra organ absorbed sunlight providing the babies more energy than needed. The effect was incomprehensible, that the parents just had to wait and see what happens. The parents couldn?t believe what these doctors where saying. The Doctors insisted they go to the same school and grow up together. As he said that one of the pairs of parents got up. They weren?t convinced by these doctors hypothesis. They were concerned with their kid so they just left the hospital with their baby girl in their hands. They did not want anything to do with these ?crazy people? so they moved out of California. I guess they couldn?t handle the truth of their child being different. As for the other kids, their parents agreed and moved near each other. The kids today are going to attend Los Santos High School? ?Isn?t that the school you guys are at?? she asked. ?Yeah we are,? I said. I didn?t expect her to comprehend the story. It took me at least 2 minutes to figure it out. ?Wait so what does the organ thingy do to you?? she asked. ?Well? I gulped in shock. ?I know this is really like cliché but we have abilities,? I explained to her. ?Ha ha ha! Like super powers? she said loudly It hurt me that she couldn?t believe me when I said that. Super Powers wasn?t the word because we didn?t save people we just lived a normal life trying not to use them. ?No, because we don?t save people or anything of that stuff? I sighed and turned away. ?What can you do?? she asked standing up. ?Why don?t you get your stuff ready for your first day of third grade?? I asked leaning down towards her. ?Fine? she said and scampered down the hall to another room. I walked to the door and closed it. I went to the window and pushed aside the black curtains. They revealed a dark night with just the glowing moon shining from afar. I admired its beauty and was mesmerized. I shook my head and walked away from the window. I grabbed my notebook from my glass desk and sat on my bed. I opened and took the pen attached to it. This notebook was like my journal. I thought and began to write. After writing a page, I glanced at the time on my phone. It said 11: 07 pm and I yawned. I put my stuff away and turned off the light. I snuggled in my covers and lay there. Drifting into my dreams wasn?t soothing but weakly frightening. The reason was I could see the future in my dreams. They were always unclear and I could not tell when it was going to happen. I never told anyone of this ability. Not my parents and not even Sam and Max. I wondered what tonight would be and gently closed my eyes. My head cleared up and I saw endless space of clouds. The sun showed brightly on my face. I walked a few steps to only see something floating in the air. I covered my forehead to see clearly and saw a symbol. There and then, the floor disappeared and I was falling through the air down to earth. I woke u p and rose from the bed. I found myself sweating and panting for air. I closed my eyes and saw a heart pierced with a knife. I opened them again and thought what it could mean. Chapter 2 ?Bing Bing!? yelled out my alarm. I reached for my EnV and turned off the alarm set for 6:45 am. ?First day of junior year here I come? I moaned and slipped out of my bed. I walked over to my closet and skimmed through some shirts. I stopped and smiled at my black body-hugging shirt. It had red roses and a grey lace swiveling around them as a design. I picked out my favorite black skinny jeans and a stud belt. When I was dressed, I put on my black low converse. I walked over to my dresser and brushed my medium sized black hair. I sighed and ran to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and head to the side of my desk. I grabbed my black Jansport backpack and head downstairs. My mom was downstairs sipping some coffee and writing something down. My mom was exactly like me Black Hair, White skin, medium sized except I got my dad?s green eyes. ?Hey Mom? I told her while stuffing the granola bar in my backpack. Hello and why don?t you eat today? She said glancing up. ?Mom I don?t have time Sam is going to come any minute to pick me up? I groaned. ?Ok Honey? she said ?Beep Beep Beep!? my phone rang. I opened the text message labeled Sam. It read, ?Hey I?m outside your house! Haven?t picked Max yet? I opened my phone to type with the keyboard. I texted ?ok I?ll be right there? ?Bye Mom Sam is outside? I said kissing her cheek. I ran outside to see his blue Silverado truck. It was an ok truck but it only had three seats in the front. Sam, Max, and I are best friends. I can always trust them. We never fought or had even the slightest argument. I ran up to it and tapped the glass. A tall man with blond styled hair, close to tan skin and brown eyes peered at me. He was wearing a green shirt and jeans. He stepped out and opened the door for me. I sat near the window then leaned towards him and kissed him on the cheek. ?Hello Amy? he said smiling showing his perfect white teeth ?Hey Sam? I said while buckling my seat belt. ?Beep beep beep!? my phone rang revealing a text from Max. I opened it while Sam drove. It read, ?Are you guys going to pick me up or what?? I laughed opening my phone. I responded, ?We are like 1 block away?. ?Tell him we are 1 block away,? he told me Oh yeah Sam can read minds. Max can too but they work differently. Sam?s doesn?t work if you do not want him to be in your mind. However, since people don?t know of his abilities only our three families can keep him out. Max?s can?t read Sam?s or my mind since we have the organ. ?I did but I guess you already knew that? I said He slowed down until we passed a red house with a beautiful garden. A medium sized man with spiky black hair, white skin, and blue eye stepped out of the house. He was dressed in all black like me. He ran up to the car and opened the door. I scooted over to the middle seat as he got in. I kissed him on the cheek as he buckled up. ?Hey Max? I said ?Hey Amy your looking wonderful today? he said ?Thanks you too? I said retunring the compliment ?Well you guys are we going to have fun this year or what?? I said starting a conversation. ? I guess? they both said as the same time. Open Question: early 1990's video game question?
This question is for Old school gamers(who are in their late 20's or 30's) like me. In 1992, when Street Fighter 2(just regular street fighter 2, not the one where you can play as the boss's) came out for the Super Nintendo there was a rumor that there was a code where you could play as one of the boss's. I thought it was a rumor at first, just to make nintendo seem cooler and make sega look bad. I also heard a game genie was required to get it to work, I've looked at alot of sites like game faqs and game winners but it's not mentioned. But I actually do remember seeing an advertisement for this on the cover of electronic gaming monthly. I'm just wondering if someone could fill me on the details. Did a boss code actually exist? Or was it just a glitch? Or something someone made up to make nintendo look good? I'm going crazy trying to find out! Help!! -the konami code couldn't work, because CAPCOM made this game, not KONAMI. - Main thing I remember about this era was the huge war between sega genesis and super nintendo and people were doing anything to get people to buy certain systems, including start rumors. - i remember also hearing rumors about you need a game genie to get it to work and it doesn't work most of the time. Open Question: Are blacks more intelligent than other races ( Asians,Whites, Etc( ?
Even today in many parts of the world formal schooling is inaccessible to many people; being more of a privilege than an expectation in some places. Therefore, the best measures of intelligence should be unrelated to literary pencil and paper multiple-choice tasks. Skills like Quick decision making, cooperativeness, orienting efficacy, the capacity to represent features on a vast scale, and short-term strategic considerations are certainly abilities that would have been vital for our hunter-gatherer relatives in the past, and are still highly relevant in today?s modern environments. These abilities are also critical for successful athletic competitive performance, and particularly within the realm of team sports (Horgan and Tienson, 1992). rofessional athletes and especially those involved in team sports must operate within highly dynamic and multi-dimensional situational contexts (Vickers, 2007) requiring a very complex set of cognitive skills (see Kioumourtzoglou et al, 1998; Horgan and Tienson, 1992). Often these skills are close in relationship with the kinds of skills that, in the ?not so distant? past, helped to make our ancestors successful hunter and gathers. Why is this relevant, one might ask? Well, hunting is assumed to have been in practice for 99% of human prehistory and is thus believed to have provided the ?master behavior pattern? of the human species (Herlin, 2003). Intelligence in the past was never a measure of one?s academic aptitude or potential for formal schooling, but was instead a measure of one?s potential for real life survival, and often this survival depended on the same kind intelligences and abilities employed by athletes during competition. Formal schooling of the kind familiar to most living in the West today did not become a part of people?s everyday lives until the early 20th century. Studies of reaction time in athletes and non athletes generally find athletes to out perform non athletes in these tasks. Reaction time is believed to be a good indicator of performance in sports (Kaur et al, 2006). This may explain why Blacks athletes can be found overrepresented in many of the world?s most highly selective high performance sports (e.g. Football and Basketball). Kaur et al (2006), found quicker reaction times in athletes as compared to control groups, and attributed this to improved concentration, alertness, better muscular co-ordination and improved performance in speed and accuracy tasks among athletes (Kaur et al, 2006). Kamin (1995) reported that in tasks of choice reaction time, blacks in 3 out of three studies out performed white individuals and Asian indivuiduals. I have more statistics to back it up. African-born blacks comprise about 16 percent of the U.S. foreign-born black population (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 2000), and are ?considerably? more educated than other immigrants. The vast majority of these immigrants come from minority white countries in East and West Africa (e.g. Kenya and Nigeria). While less than 2 percent originate from North or South Africa (CIA World Factbook, 2004; Yearbook of immigration Statistics, 2003). In an analysis of Census Bureau data by the Journal of Blacks in higher education, African immigrants to the United States were found more likely to be college educated than any other immigrant group, which included those from Europe, North America and Asia (see also Nisbett, 2002; U.S. Bureau of the Census, 2000). African immigrants have also been shown to be more highly educated than any native-born ethnic group including white and Asian Americans (Logan & Deane, 2003; Williams, 2005; The Economist, 1996; Arthur, 2000; Selassie, 1998; Nisbett, 2002). In Chicago, for example, the vast majority of schools placed on academic probation as part of the district accountability efforts were majority African-American and low-income (Diamond and Spillane 2004). Thus, it is somewhat surprising that African Americans should outperform white Americans on any portion of a paper and pencil test designed to mimic the structures of western style schooling (Richardson, 2000, 2002). Open Question: What jobs after highschool?am i doing good at all?
after this year of school i will have 2 more years of highschool! yey im graduating at age 19...why you ask? i used to live in bosnia and moved to germany when the war started in 1992 i stayed in germany until 1999 and came to america at the time i started 2nd grade in America I did 1st grade in germany and some of 2nd grade,... but i got put in 2nd grade in America in stl missouri were i moved to.. I'm currently 17 and a sophmore..but I have some higher classes than usual...I am taking computer 3 this semester...and im in communication arts 3 thats well for juniors in my school... The problem is my grades are good but not that good i usually had f's before but ive gotten better and passed freshmen year still and last semester i passed also.. I play 2 sports soccer and volleyball... I want to know what job i should do after highschool to start off...college isnt an option since my parents cant afford it...and i would like to go but i think i will never be succesful in college with getting good grades. what jobs are there out for me? i like doing sports a lot...and running..I like helping others achieve their path sometimes maybe if it was in games or anything i always make my cousin feel good shes nice lol.. and pays from $12-15 an/hr I know I'm going to open a gpt site (get paid to) bussiness thats not going to be very good but its an easy job just need $2,000 to start off so anyone got any ideas on jobs? that involve usually sports and athletic? Okay, so I've been going out with my boyfriend for a year and a half. I was 14 and he was 16. Now I'm 16 and he is 18. His birthday is on july 4, 1990 and mine is on july 17, 1992. I'm a junior and he's senior. We're both in high school. I've heard of laws about consent and everything, but we were together before he turned 18. another thing is that we recently lost our virginity to each other.. Voting Question: Will my bad grades 10+ years ago affect my chances at being accepted to college?
Twice in my early 20's, I attempted college. The first time I did terribly and left. The second time, I switched majors halfway through then ended up dropping out because I didn't have the money to finish my last year. Now, 10 years later, I want to try again. I went to my local community college and spent 2 years retaking all my high school classes and got straight A's. Unfortunately this is the same school I first attended, and my transcript shows those horrible grades from 1992 as well as my great ones from the last two years. I am applying to a totally different school next month. I'm paranoid that the stupidity I exhibited as a youth will hurt my chances. I'm 36 now, I approach education in a very different manner than I did as a stupid twenty-something. Will my excellent grades in the last two years be proof enough to show that I'm really serious this time, or am I just kidding myself that having dropped out twice in the past, I'll never get anyone to look at me seriously? I REALLY want to do this, to go back to school, to make something of myself and I'm determined to make it work this time around. Is there anything I can do/say that might increase my chances of being accepted despite my youthful indiscretions? (more...)
