Open Question: A Cop destroyed evidence. How does one get the FBI or Attorney General involved?
An East Chicago, Indiana, cop deleted photos that could have been used as evidence from my camera in the presence of Hobart Police. * Complaints were filed with both PD's, and both denied any knowledge or said no procedures were violated. * Hobart PD failed to respond to a subpoena for a video tape possibly showing the deletion in a timely manner. (The video was overwritten.) * In a subsequent deposition the ECPD Cop admitted deleting the photos. * The Lake Co Prosecutor's office refused to talk with me or to investigate. * The Attorney General's office will respond only if the request is from Law Enforcement, Prosecutor, or Judicial office. * The local FBI office gives me the run around. How can one get the FBI or Attorney General to investigate this felony? That Blue Shield is hard to penetrate. Thanks (more...)

Resolved Question: Is it at all possible to request an amended police report?
The police report the cop wrote (the one I will be making a complaint on for other reasons) wrote incorrect information, and didn't put in my other witnesses statements which would have helped us tremendously. Is there a certain procedure for that? I live in GA...the officer was in Gwinnett County. (more...)

Resolved Question: How should I proceed in this matter?
I rented an apartment from 6/2007 to 6/2008. The landlord issued me a lease agreement for the 1 year term. The lease has my name, and the landlord's name printed and signed on the lease. Upon moving out the apartment at the end of 5/2008; I cleaned the apartment thorougly, had the carpets professionally cleaned, took pictures of the apartment to prove the good condition I left the apartment, sent the landlord via certified mail the keys to the apartment and a copy of the receipt of the professional carpet cleaning of the apartment. The security deposit of $500.00 I gave to the landlord to commence the lease in 6/2007 was never returned, and nor the itemized list of deductions from the security deposit. I attempted to contact the landlord via telephone, and certified mail. The landlord never contacted me back, and evaded my attempts to contact her about my unreturned security deposit. Keep in mind the landlord is a practicing Real Estate Attorney, and owns several properties in the area. On 10/3/2008 I filed a complaint/suit for damages of my unreturned security deposit with the local Justice of Peace/Magistrate. I was granted a hearing about the matter on 10/24/2008. I attened the hearing, and the landlord/attorney/defendant did not show up at the hearing. The Magisterial Judge did not even give me a chance to say a word, and stated the scheduled hearing he gave about the matter was issued in error. The Magisterial Judge issued me an extension of hearing for 12/15/2008. It was quite strange because pursuant to procedure if the defendant does not show up at the scheduled hearing, the plaintiff wins by default. I attended the next hearing on 12/15/2008, and this time the landlord/attorney/defendant did show up for the hearing. During the hearing the Magisterial Judge did not give me a chance to speak. The defendant argued that I was suing the wrong person, how this was a waste of her time and a major loss to the billable hours of her law practice, and that she wanted to file a cross-claim against me for legal malpractice for suing the wrong person. The Magisterial Judge ordered me to rescind my suit against the defendant or I will be charged with contempt of the court. At the end of hearing the Magisterial Judge stated that I need to work this matter out between the defendant and I, and keep this matter out of his court. I researched the matter, and what the Magisterial Judge stated, and discovered that it has no real legal relevancy. Obviously the Magistrate is acting in the defendant's favor, and attempting to thrawt my attempts to collect this unreturned security deposit. However, the Magistrate did not dismiss my case, and scheduled another extension of the hearing for 1/20/2008. What should I do to correct this matter? Should just drop the suit, and learn a lesson? I left the apartment in good condition, and have pictures to prove it. Is $500.00 really worth fighting over if an attorney, and Magistrate going to go crooked against me? I could file a complaint for the Judiciary Conduct Board, and the Bar Association, but is that really going to do any justice? I'm afraid if I file a complaint suit with a a different Magistrate the same thing will happen. Pursuant to the county property appraisal record, and the lease the Real Estate Attorney/Landlord/Defendant is the property owner of the property, and the individual landlord of the lease. There is no property managment company explained anywhere in the lease. (more...)

Resolved Question: What is the procedure to file a complaint against an officer.?
This officer basically didn't handle my car accident appropriately. He took my husband's license(by accident) and was supposed to have it mailed, he also refused to take more than 2 witness statements, which would have helped us get compensated from the other drivers insurance company, and he never even got our statement, until we called the precinct and he had to call us. My son was injured, and he never even came over to speak to my husband at all. He wrote up the police report to make it seem like the other driver had a witness to back him up, but in actuality I found out that they were backing up my husband because they saw the accident. I am tired of the run around with this guy, and want to take it further. If his supervisor does nothing, what next? (more...)

Resolved Question: Cardiac or Psychiatric review? ER scenario (Med students).?
Jack is a 28 yr old sedentary male: pale, thin (non smoker) with a history of anxiety and unexplained chest pain and tachycardic events. He has had one event of SVT recorded on 24hr holter. All other events seen in ER have been sinus rhythm. He lives at home with his parents who care for him. He rarely goes out the home due to extreme fatigue, dizziness and a flu like feeling which he attributes to his 'condition'. He is not depressed and has been refered to the local mental health team who report he has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and associated Dysautonomia, (presumed to be due to inactivity). There is little on offer in terms of treatment - apart from a raised pulse of 90 sitting and a pronounced tachycardia upon standing, - all clinical observations are unremarkable. He has previously undergone an Angiogram in the past, which was normal. Before the procedure, Jack reported he felt rather 'freaked out' and a supine pulse of 120bpm was observed. Of note was the procedure was stopped half way through due to an inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST) of 170bpm before LV could be assessed. He was given IV Midazolam as a sedative and the procedure stopped. The cardiologist at his previous Hospital feels confident Jack does not suffer from CHD due to his age, normal BP, saturation readings, no signs of oedema, normal diet. He does not wish to repeat the procedure for safety reasons. Jack is admitted to Hospital several months later at midnight following a complaint of sudden onset severe chest pain, shortness of breath and tachycardia. He reports he was not exerting at the time of onset and was simply ''sitting at his computer''. On admission, he appears nervous, keen to explain his symptoms in detail and wants to know 'when it will stop'. He sees a Doctor at approx 12.30 am as a priority 2 case. Supine his observations were as follows: ----------------------------------------------------------- Heart rate 135 bpm Blood pressure 169/142 Respiration rate 16 Sa 02 is 99% Peak flow reading 450 (predicted 640). Q Wave II & III changes are shown on ECG Chest clear: A/t = bilaterally Temp: 36.5 Awake & Orientated Complaint: --------------- C/O 'tight' chest pain centrally radiating to the back. Anxious ++ Diagnosis: --------------- Chest tightness, tachycardia & hypertensive on admission. Gradually settled. Given 5mg Diazepam (refused 10mg). Still appears anxious & describes symptoms of anxiety very well, but denies any psychiatric problem. ECG = Sinus tachycardia (I think Q wave was due to anxiety?). Refer to family doctor only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ QUESTION: Jack denies he is having a panic attack and insists he has a physical problem, despite admitting feeling very anxious due to his symptoms. He remains calm and polite, yet the medical staff are concerned at his diastolic readings which are abnormal and do not wish to discharge him until this has settled. 5mg Diazepam is given to Jack orally after his sustained hypertension and chest pain is observed for 30 mins in triage. He takes approximately 2 hours to feel calmer and report his chest pain has resolved. He says the medication has made him feel 'stoned and sleepy'. 30 mins later, his observations are: -------------------------------------------------- Heart rate 128 bpm Blood pressure is 138/85 The medical staff feel it is now safe to discharge Jack back home and feel a referral is un-necessary. He has been in Hospital triage - 2hrs 30 mins. In less than 300 words explain: ------------------------------------------------ A) If you refer him for Psychiatric or Cardiac Review before discharge. b) Note why you think Q waves changes are important in your decision. c) Diazepam reduced hypertension & chest pain in Jack. Why? d) Is there any real evidence of Ischemic pain in the absence of CHD? e) Is Jack presenting with an IST or a Tachycardia due to anxiety? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you - tough one, huh?! Voting Question: If squatters in Texas are on my land Can make a consumer s complaint to the Txas attorney General?
I contacted a attorney who is representing other members of the family who had no knowledge of the squatters on the property. However the Land rep for a Energy co. wrote and sent a contract to be signed for a lease of the mineral rights. My husband and I are on a fixed income, the Attorney wants 4000.00 retainers fee and 200.00 dollars an hour. I do not believe the squatters followed legal procedure to steal my property. Does any one know where I might obtain a book on the laws in Texas regarding the rights of squatters. The property has been in my family since before the civil war. The taxes have been paid. Please help! I was notified that I would have to go to a legal library to attempt to obtain the forms. But how do I file them with the judge in Texas ? (more...)

Resolved Question: Who has given birth in KK Hospital before?
I've been going to KKH for my regular consultation for my pregnancy all this while. Im giving birth in 3 months time & i'm still very lost of what to do, where to go if i were to deliver suddenly. I once called my clinic up to check if i can use a certain cream for my rashes, however the nurses couldn't assist me and asked me to go for my GP. In the end, after making feedbacks & complaints that they should know, they proved that i was able to consult them upon that enquiry i have. From then on, i lost my confidence in KKH. Now i just wanna know if i happen to have symptoms of delivery, where should i go, what should i do, should i call the hospital etc...i don't know who can i ask..my gynae? the nurse? who? and i think this is the 1st & last time im going to give birth in KKH, heard from my friends that they are very well informed of the procedures & even have an emergency line provided for them as & when they need to call during their pregnancy for their hospital..i guess no one is as lost as me. Please advise. (more...)
