First, a caveat: this 88-minute nostalgic romp through Mickey Mouse Club history is not The Best of Britney, Justin & Christina, but rather a compilation of four complete MMC episodes from Season Six with only minor appearances (a few songs and hometown profiles) by the namesake superstars. While the title's misrepresentation is disappointing (and suggests some exploitive marketing by Disney), the DVD, nonetheless, oozes with talent from the cast of all 20 mouseketeers, including lesser-known stars who were hugely popular during the show's run (`89-'94) such as Keri Russell, JC Chasez, and Ryan Gosling. These particular episodes were selected because they happen to include two-minute profiles of Britney Spears, who takes viewers back to her hometown in Louisiana; Justin Timberlake, as he impersonates Elvis at Graceland; and Christina Aguilera who bakes brownies and shows viewers a scrapbook of her childhood. Two live concert performances spotlight Aguilera belting, "I Have Nothing," and a song and dance routine with Spears and Timberlake singing, "I Feel for You." Other program highlights include the cheesy but engaging game show, "Everybody's a Winner," and a hilarious series of skits with Russell. A segment on teen suicide and depression was an odd choice to include in this otherwise upbeat program. Fans can keep their fingers crossed that Disney will release each MMC season in its entirety on DVD, named accordingly. (Ages 8 to 14) --Lynn Gibson

When they overhear their stressed-out single mom (Northern Exposure's Cynthia Geary) calling them "a handful," twins Julie and Sarah decide to give mom a break and go to grandma's for Christmas. So they stuff their backpacks and stow away on a city bus, beginning an odyssey that will first find them in a delivery van operated by Roy Rogers-obsessed driver Eddie (soap opera veteran J. Eddie Peck). Then a karate chop to Eddie's head later, they're at the mercy of a happily married pair of thieves (Rhea Perlman, Jerry Van Dyke) and, ultimately, a team of spooked runaway horses posing as reindeer. Luckily Eddie already has a crush on Mom, who manages his favorite mini-mart, and together the pair track down the missing twins, who, meanwhile, are having the ride of their lives. The Olsen twins are in their Full House bloom in this 89-minute made-for-TV movie, which means their brand of innocuous brattiness is still more charming than annoying. Perlman and Van Dyke get to ham it up as lovable criminals, and Geary and Peck find G-rated romance once he adjusts to the idea that his mini-mart sweetie has kids and he learns to share his Lotto winnings. Disney continues to "sequelize" its classic features. With smart foresight, the filmmakers choose to go with three snappy short films to comprise this 73-minute feature with the Fairy Godmother granting wishes to various characters. In the opening short, Cinderella must pursue life as queen. Several feathers are ruffled as she brings her down-home ways to the castle (bring the commoners in and open those darn curtains). In the other tales, one of Cinderella's animal pals receives a chance to see the world quite differently, and finally, Anastasia, Cinderella's formerly evil stepsister, finds love with a little help. As with the other sequels, the look of the film helps bridge the distance between the original and the sequel (here over 50 years) and it comes together seamlessly. Little ones from ages 4 to 9 should be entertained while purists may be a bit aghast. --Doug Thomas

Look who became a star. Barbie comes to life in this computer-animated Christmas tale that quite naturally takes the longtime favorite doll into a new realm. The plot is a slight variation on the traditional ballet based on Tchaikovsky's music. Instead of being in an open-ended dream, Barbie and her escort, the Nutcracker (soon to be Ken, natch), are on an adventurous quest. Along the way there are more creatures and derring-do than in the original. The sole known voice talent, Tim Curry, has a good old time as the Mouse King, and the animated dancing is gracefully adapted from New York City Ballet choreography. A few clever characters, bright animation, and wonderful music should entrance any Barbie fans ages 3 to 9. The 78-minute feature debuted on video shortly before playing on CBS in 2001. --Doug Thomas

Ghost story meets paranormal mystery in Disney's PG family spookfest, a rare kid-friendly scary movie that still manages to frighten. Director John Hough (whose Legend of Hell House is a classic of supernatural suspense) delivers all the right shiver-inducing ingredients: flashes of light, whispers in the wind, eerie visions of a blindfolded little girl lost (the long-lost daughter of withered widow Bette Davis) reaching out from mirrors, as if trapped behind them. Though tame by today's bloody standards and a flop on its original release in 1981, this handsome little gothic ghost story has become something of a cult film for its suggestive direction, impressionistic imagery, and spooky sense of the unknown. Ok first of all, for those people who read the book, wasn't Edward just how you imagined???? I don't think they could have gotten a better actor to play him - and he is cute. I like him better as a Edward Cullen rather than Robert Pattinson, though, do you? He suits pale white skin rather than peachy skin. And his hair is a lot better in the movie. That is what disappoints me about Rob - his hair is too long in real life, if he cut it a bit he could look REALLY good, not that he doesn't already. :P And also, put in order your fave characters out of the following from the Cullen family (including the Hales). ok before i write anything if you have negitive comments keeps them to yourself please. i have put a lot of effort in so please don't be rude ok this is the preface pic 1 please da best I never thought that I could die? but to me, dying for the one I love was everything. I was never meant to be able to die; I was immortal but for some reason a creature like me did. And for the most unavailable boy to me?a human. I was willing to die for someone I love, my family stuck in the middle but I know deep inside of me, dying wasn?t all it was wrapped up to be, dying was easy living and loving was harder. I was shore that Hale was going to kill me?but I wasn?t giving up without a fight. He had two of the dearest things to me, I wanted them both back. He saw me and began to crouch down, ready to kill me. That was when I knew I was surely going to die. ok and 2 I never thought that a creature like me could die?but dying to me wasn?t as bad as I thought it would be, if it meant that I would save the one that I love then that was fine. My family stuck in all of this, my lover right at the front. I had no other choice but to kill the hunter. But death was right around my corner, I have never given much thought to how I would die. But that meant little, because my love would survive. I lurk the streets now, seeing the hunter waiting for me. He has something I want; with his hazy voice he threatens me. And then crouches down ready to kill me. This was the moment that I knew I would surely die.
