Safe Trip Home
(Amazon.co.uk Review) Safe Trip Home, the third album from singer-songwriter Dido, sees the chanteuse cook up a slightly different ambience than on previous albums No Angel (1999) and Life for Rent (2003). Though her signature elements remain in place--the limited, slightly cracked falsetto; the dreamy, comforting trip-hop vibe--there seems to be an extra density to Safe Trip Home, doubtless provoked by the loss of her father in 2006. The added weight is predominantly in the lyrics, which tend to focus on loss and heartache, but there's extra detail and depth in the musicianship too, since Dido has been busy honing her skills as a multi-instrumentalist. Despite the denser themes, the music still drifts by in classic Dido style, moving smoothly through the insouciant “Don't Believe in Love", the aptly titled “Quiet Times", and “Never Want to Say It's Love", before arriving at the somber-yet-elegant six-minute standout “Grafton Street", co-written with Brian Eno and featuring Mick Fleetwood on drums. The rest of the album unfurls in similarly sophicticated fashion, featuring the folkish “Look No Further", the upbeat “Us 2 Little Gods", and a nine-minute poetic closer called “Northern Skies". Michael Bublé's assured debut and the tireless year of globe-trotting touring he spent promoting it elevated the 20-something Vancouver native into the first rank of pop crooner revivalists. His sophomore studio follow-up largely turns on the same formula that helped make his considerable vocal prowess so attractive to mainstream audiences, mixing the nigh flawless, if expected Sinatra-channeling ("I've Got You Under My Skin") with more playful and inviting renditions of pop standards like the Gershwin's "A Foggy Day in London Town," "Feeling Good," "Try A Little Tenderness" and Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin." But it's the eclectic mix of more contemporary material the singer seasons them with -- apt tribute to Bublé hero Bobby Darin -- that keeps him walking the narrow tightrope between artistic intrigue (a blues-tinged vamp of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "How Sweet It Is," Leon Russell's lovely "Song For You," with a guest turn by Chris Botti) and the kitsch-laden abyss ("Quando, Quando, Quando"'s Euro-centric duet with Nelly Furtado, a ring-a-ding-fling with the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" that echoes fellow Canadian crooner/rival Matt Dusk's more successful flirtation with Lennon-McCartney). The Lion King (A Walt Disney Masterpiece)
Not an ideal choice for younger kids, this hip and violent animated feature from Disney was nevertheless a huge smash in theaters and on video, and it continues to enjoy life in an acclaimed Broadway production. The story finds a lion cub, son of a king, sent into exile after his father is sabotaged by a rivalrous uncle. The little hero finds his way into the "circle of life" with some new friends and eventually comes back to reclaim his proper place. Characters are very strong, vocal performances by the likes of Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, and Whoopi Goldberg are terrific, the jokes are aimed as much (if not more) at adults than kids, the animation is sometimes breathtaking, and the music is more palatable than in many Disney features. But be cautious: this is too intense for the Rugrat crowd. --Tom Keogh

The film that officially signaled Disney's animation renaissance (following The Little Mermaid) and the only animated feature to receive a Best Picture Oscar nomination, Beauty and the Beast remains the yardstick by which all other animated films should be measured. It relates the story of Belle, a bookworm with a dotty inventor for a father; when he inadvertently offends the Beast (a prince whose heart is too hard to love anyone besides himself), Belle boldly takes her father's place, imprisoned in the Beast's gloomy mansion. Naturally, Belle teaches the Beast to love. What makes this such a dazzler, besides the amazingly accomplished animation and the winning coterie of supporting characters (the Beast's mansion is overrun by quipping, dancing household items) is the array of beautiful and hilarious songs by composer Alan Menken and the late, lamented lyricist Howard Ashman. (The title song won the 1991 Best Song Oscar, and Menken's score scored a trophy as well.) The downright funniest song is "Gaston," a lout's paean to himself (including the immortal line, "I use antlers in all of my de-co-ra-ting"). "Be Our Guest" is transformed into an inspired Busby Berkeley homage. Open Question: Signs that it was the next door neighbor that burglarized your home?
We've been recently burglarized and we strongly suspect it was the next door neighbor because the opposite side neighbor from the back yard said the man from next door was sitting on our back door porch the time we were away.
We also strongly suspect the burglars escaped from the third floor window to the roof and possibly to "go back home".
Anyone that has been burglarized from your neighboor? What are the signs? I lost my ipod and I have been looking around to see if they would use my ipod.
We also lost cash, jewleries, small knife, and among other things. We are home owners and they are just renters.

Open Question: just hooked up with this chick..days ago..?
K so before my winter break from school i hang around with this chick that I THOUGHT was cute,for like just 40 mins..
Over the break we started talking a lot about everything, i thought i really liked her at the time and asked her about like a few days before school started,she said yes.
She's 17 and her parents know NOTHING about her ever having a boyfriend before, so they won't let boys go to their house, and can't come to my house for some reason.. So we can only be with each other during lunch everyday? because she goes straight home and gets off of school and hour earlier than me.
And I'm also starting I'm not even attracted to her AT ALL and shes all lovey dovey on me and she sucks at it. Even my ******* friends are laughing at her not knowing shes my gf.

She was always looking at me..thats not an excuse, its the truth.. and other girls are starting to talk to me more because of her..giving me attention..should i dump her?

My neighbors and I are very disturbed because there are whole bunch of people outside our homes who are consistently out of control. These people would loiter, play loud music outdoor, make noises (screaming, shouting, yelling), play cards, graffiti, litter, throw objects, and pound on the electric circuit boxes. Making matter worse, they seemed to not mind their own business. For example, sometimes when my family watches TV, the people outside would make even louder noises as if they are proving a point. They would go on making all sorts of ruckus whether it?s daytime or nighttime.
Many of the neighbors are too scared to call security because we are threatened by these people. Few of us had already complained to the security officers and the management center. However, no results took place. We even told the people outside to stop. Not only they didn?t listen, but these people would purposely pursue their negative actions even further.
We are living in an unsafe and unmerciful environment for way too long. My neighbors and I believe we have the rights to live in a peaceful and quiet home of Kukui Gardens. We are looking forward to a resolution of these problems as soon as possible.

Open Question: My 3 month old daughter goes rigid and holds her breath. What is this?
My baby girl has a pretty extensive medical history including a chromosome disorder and having a large hole in her heart surgically repaired. We don't know how the chromosome disorder will affect her as she grows because the doctors have never seen this arrangement before. Since she was about 2 months old, she has done this really weird jerking thing. You know how sometimes when you're falling asleep, you catch yourself and jerk? That's what it is, but she's awake and it happens as much as 20 times a day some days. Another thing she has started doing is going completely rigid with her arms straight out, legs straight out, eyes bugging, holds her breath while making a long, loud grunt sound, and turns bright red. This only lasts about 6 seconds, but it's long enough to scare the Hell out of me! I know she's not pooping. This is not normal. I took her into the neurologist for 2 nights of observation and an EEG, and of course she didn't "perform" so they sent her home saying they hadn't picked up any seizure activity. Well, she did it again this afternoon. I'm really freaked out. Has anyone dealt with this before and if so, what is it?

Open Question: I'm in CA. Kids (14 & 11) are in CO. They want to be with me.?
I've finally landed a great job with a great future. I 've rented a large home and am getting caught up with bills and I'm so happy, healthy and emotionally great. What am I facing with getting custody back? Loosing them was a money issue (he worked & I took care of the home and kids). Can I file in CA? Do I have to inherit a billion bucks and hire an attorney also in CO? The kids just want the chance to talk to a judge. They love their dad but want to be with me again. It's been 4-years since custody changed.
