Open Question: What should I do about my asthma?
My fiance lost his job because of downsizing and so we lost our health insurance. I'm currently on Zopenez and Advair, but I've ran out of Advair. When I don't have my Advair, I need my inhaler every few hours. I wake up in the morning feeling sick and it's terribly hard to breath. I feel like my condition is getting worse. I'm scared. Should I go to the hospital, or is there anything out there that offers help? I applied for Medicaid for my daughter and I, but I highly doubt I'll get it. Any advice, please! I live in Amarillo, TX.

Open Question: I'm employed as an independent contractor. How do I handle my taxes? ?
I just graduated an lpn program and took a home care job while I study for the NCLEX. Here, I'm considered an independent contractor (the lady I work for her son is a lawyer. They have my ss#, and I get paid by personal checks of which they are reimbursed by the insurance company). I've been working here since october '08 and I, on average, make 2g a month. Everything I have found seems to be extremely confusing. I figured out, if I did it right, that I may have to pay about a grand come feb and I think there is some mistake. I want to pay my taxes and on time at that. Can anyone shed some light on my problem.

Open Question: How can i convince my employer to give me a dollar raise.?
I was just hired today for a job for financial institution that helps patients with their medical expenses and other social service. I am a recent college graduate with a B.A. in psych, but I was a former nursing student and worked in the ICU.
I am excited about my new job, but i feel that I was given a low offer at $14 an hour. I told my employer i understand if I get $14/hr b/c I am not tat familiar with insurance claims, but I am very knowledgeable of healthcare. She said there is a 90 day prob. period.
Now I was planning on working hard and taking up a spanish for healthcare workers class so I can show her that I am motivated and worth the extra dollar raise.
My question is what else can I do to be granted $1 raise in 3 months?
Was it fair to be given the lowest starting pay, eventhough, she expressed how much she was impressed by my interview?
Don't get me wrong, I am blessed to have been hired, esp. in this financial crisis, but I feel that I should at least be at $15.

Open Question: How can I earn money to meet my cost of living?
I know many people don't like reading people's sob stories, but this is my last option. I've tried applying for jobs but I never recieve a call back, and when I do recieve a call back I get supremely happy only to discover the job is a scam such as a perfume company I was working at. Currently, I'm 18 years old, I'm living in an apartment with the rent and utilities coming to $720-$800 per month, I've recently gotten married (December 31st), I'm nearly 6 months pregnant with a baby girl, my husband works at UPS earning barely $400 per month, my dad pays for our rent and utilities, he paid for my car, he pays for my car insurance, my gas, and he's paid for nearly everything that I own. I feel bad about my dad paying for everything, especially since he's running out of money and he worked hard for his money with the federal government for over 30 years, and I've wanted to re-pay him for everything he has given me. But I currently do not see how I am going to be able to do that when I've had an unexpected pregnancy, I'm unemployed and have tried very hard to become employed with no success, my husband doesn't make enough to cover even half of our rent, and I'm afraid that if things don't change I'm going to lose my baby girl to social services. Even though my pregnancy was unplanned, I still want to take care of her and not put her in the system of social services because I've gone through the system twice and no matter what people say, I know that it is not a good system to live in. I want to make a better life for my baby, but with unemployment rates spikeing, and hardly any income coming in, I don't know how to do that. Please, someone help me find a way to make a better life for my baby! This is truly my last hope. I want to keep my baby very badly, and I want her to grow up and be happy while knowing and living with her biological parents which is something I never got to do, but I've run out of resources and options. Someone, please help me find a way of making income to support my daughter, husband and I. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope someone responds.
To add some further details, my husband just started working at UPS. Currently, they only let him work a total of 25 hours per week, but after he works there for 90 days they'll start letting him work over time to earn more money. We are both currently working on getting our high school diplomas as well, and because I am adopted I am covered as far as health insurance goes until I'm 21 or if I move out of Colorado I lose my health insurance. At one point, my husband and I were working at Onyx Wholesale, and after working there for a while, we were never paid the hourly wage we were told. To be 100% honest, the most money we saw from that place was 5$. My husband hates living off my dad, and he's always trying to find ways to earn more money to pay my dad back with no luck. In our apartment we live with 3 other people. 1 stays in our living room and the other 2 live in the other bedroom. The car is used for transportation for work because my husband works nights.
As far as selling items on craigslist, we've been working on doing that for $568/month) however we can't move into those apartments until our current lease is up otherwise we lose our security deposit (750$). For some people that wouldn't seem like a lot, but for us that's like a gold mine in the great depression era. Currently, I do have one possible job opportunity, however, every time that I call to see if they've processed my application so I can begin working and earning money, they say that they're either over-employed, or, as they said last time I called, I have to wait until March to begin working. Back when I was living with larger incomes, I would have said 'I can wait. I'm patient', however, with the bills piling up I don't have that kind of time. I need something to bring in enough money to pay rent at the very least.
My other issue that I have is that I don't even know if I'm going to be a good mother. I'm worried that my daughter will hate me and bicker with me just as my adoptive mother and I do. I'm worried that when my daughter and I go to the store to get some food to put on the table, that she'll pick up a doll and that I'll have to tell her that we can't afford it. One of my biggest concerns of all is that I'm worried that our daughter won't be happy. On her birthday (which my due date is May 10), all she'll get is a cheap hand made card as a gift, and on Christmas she won't even understand the meaning of giving and recieving because she might not even recieve anything. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm worried that the only things I'll be able to buy my daughter is food with my food stamps and nothing more.

Open Question: I want your personal opinion, Do you think i'll turn out bad?
I am 19.
I still live at home.
I do not pay for my cell phone, I am not on my own plan and won't be till March 2010, thats when the contract is up. It'd be 200+ to take me off.
I don't pay for any bills.
The only thing my mom doesn't pay for is my health insurance and my college pays for that.
My grandmother is paying for the first half of my college.
If I get C's or higher then I get my money back for this semester. That money is going into a car so I can get a job starting this summer at my county's sheriff's department. I will not have a job till then since I do not have a car and my mom wants me to focus on school.
I will be living at home till I am done with the police academy and am situated in my job and have some money saved up. So late 2010.
Right now, its like I live at Club Med.
I don't start school till the 26th.
I get to sleep in everyday.
I have easy to prepare food.
I basically sit and watch tv, use my laptop and thats about it.
I clean up after the messes I make.
Also, I have a TON of time to physically train for the academy and do ride alongs to learn more.
All my mom ask is that I am awake before noon and showered and ready before my brother is home from school.
Even when I start my classes, I will only have classes 3 days a week.
M 3-5:45 TU 6-8:45 and F 11:30-1
As soon as I am a cop, I will be making almost $4,000 a month, I will be get my own apartment and I'll put 1,000 of that into savings every month. I can live comfortably on the rest.
Many people would say that I need to have multiple jobs, taking bus transportation(since I don't have a car) and that I need to be paying for things all on my own, living in my own apartment.
Or atleast be working and paying my mom room and board.
I am grateful for this, I am so happy my mom isn't like other parents.
Ill start saving now so when she is old and retired can have a house on the beach.
Do you think my mom should be doing things differently?
Do you think i'll end up lazy or whatnot because of this?
I do my own laundry as well.
So its like I dont even live here, except the chips and soda go fast than if I didn't.
Oh and I will also be doing the explorers program with the police department.
Its like training before the training.
