Groovy in Action

"... a clear and detailed exposition of what is groovy about Groovy. I'm glad to have it on my bookshelf."
--From the Foreword by James Gosling Groovy, the brand-new language for the Java platform, brings to Java many of the features that have made Ruby popular. Groovy in Action is a comprehensive guide to Groovy programming, introducing Java developers to the new dynamic features that Groovy provides. To bring you Groovy in Action, Manning again went to the source by working with a team of expert authors including both members and the Manager of the Groovy Project team. The result is the true definitive guide to the new Groovy language.
Groovy in Action introduces Groovy by example, presenting lots of reusable code while explaining the underlying concepts. Java developers new to Groovy find a smooth transition into the dynamic programming world. Groovy experts gain a solid reference that challenges them to explore Groovy deeply and creatively.
Because Groovy is so new, most readers will be learning it from scratch. Groovy in Action quickly moves through the Groovy basics, including:
* Simple and collective Groovy data types
* Working with Closures and Groovy Control Structures
* Dynamic Object Orientation, Groovy style
Readers are presented with rich and detailed examples illustrating Groovy's enhancements to Java, including
* How to Work with Builders and the GDK
* Database programming with Groovy
Groovy in Action then demonstrates how to Integrate Groovy with XML, and provides,
* Tips and Tricks
* Unit Testing and Build Support
* Groovy on Windows
An additional bonus is a chapter dedicated to Grails, the Groovy Web Application Framework.

Open Question: music recommendations American genres for Radio ?
I am a presenter of The C.A.P. Show, on 10radio (10radio.org), and on Fri 16 Jan I'm planning a show themed loosely on Barack Obama's upcoming presidency, and i want one song from every main American music genre.
Songs must be clean (as it airs at 7PM)
for example:
blues
soul
rhythm & blues (proper R&B, not modern mainstream pop)
country
hip-hop
jazz
latin
Please feel free to suggest music from genres not listed above, as these are just examples.
Please only recommend songs that can be found on youtube or similar as we don't have a very comprehensive library in the Studio.
Please remember all songs must be 100% clean
Thank you and remember to listen on Friday evenings at 7PM GMT at 10radio.org

Open Question: Can I access my Mac's iTunes library from Windows?
My computer runs both Windows and Mac OS X; all of my music is organized in iTunes for OS X. Is it possible to somehow have the library data accessible on iTunes from the Windows side (not having the entire song library copied over, just the song list) so I can listen to my music when I'm on Windows? So basically, accessing the OS X song library from Windows. Thanks for your input.

Open Question: help, plz! a deleted account...?
okay, i have a user account on my computer, which in total had 3 users, including mine. it had my iTunes library there, and my brother updated iTunes so that it could adjust to his new iTouch. He told me to move all my songs into the "My Music" file of "My Computer" because if i didn't sync my ipod (which i "lost") by December 31, 2008, 11:59:59 PM, my entire iTunes would shut down and so would my account. I got scared and worried, cuz the whole accuracy of time freaked me out and since i "lost" my iPod Nano (the very first original version) i put songs into my Sony PSP. but i still used the iTunes on my user account to listen to music during free time and to edit album artwork. I edited the album artwork there so the songs, including the album artwork, would show up on my PSP. but i checked my user account again on January 3, 2009 and it was still there, the iTunes and everything. but today i was walking past the computer and i saw, you know the start page when you first turn on the computer, there is a listing of the user accounts, like "Guest," "User,", etc? anywayz, i walked past and i saw that my account wasn't there in the listing. There was supposed to be one that said "Casey" (which was mine), "Eloy" (my mom's account), and "user", which we all used. there was only "Eloy" and "user" there. i am 500% sure that my brother deleted it to get on my nerves, piss me off, and screw up my life. so basically what i need to know is:
will i be able to recover my user account? with everything included inside my account? if so, how would i be able to do it? please help me. thanks to everyone
i cant do anything at the moment.....and i "lost" my ipod, so idk!!!!! i cant create a new account and make a new itunes, cuz u need the ipod for that. and guess what...i dont have it!!! **sob sob* and im sry to the ppl who sed they h8ed when i called it the ITOUCH. how bout iPod Touch, that better?
im sry, and thank you for the answers given so far.. thatnk you all very much

Open Question: My music library is lifeless - can you suggest any artists I should look into?
So I'm currently replaying the same couple of songs over and over again. Currently I'm into generally rock and dance genres - I've got no particular interests, but I can list a couple of artists that I am into, so you can get an idea of what I like.
Pendulum
Wolfmother
Guns 'n' Roses
Juno Reactor
Scooter
Anything catchy, upbeat, perhaps going outside of the main genres if you think I'd like it. I just need some fresh music in my library! D:
Thanks

Open Question: Good points for making the case for library facilities bond?
Our town has grown from about 6K to 24K in recent years and we have outgrown our current library facilities. We have a bond coming up which has to cover only a portion of the town's wish list. While the town council seems inclined to put building a new library near the top of the list, a bond committee left the library off their final recommendation. What are some good points to make in favor of the library facilities at the final town council bond review public meeting? I have a number I made at an earlier review, but would love some fresh ideas. Thanks!
Unfortunately, some of the detractors on the bond committee are concerned the library has become a source of babysitting, because of the large number of after school youth. (You'd think having a kid in the library learning would be preferable to having them in a gang or being a couch potato.)
