Burn the Maps
On their first studio album in nearly four years, the Frames have opted for a fuller, more adventurous sound than on 2001's Steve Albini-produced For the Birds, although this placid, smoky-bar ambiance owes more to 'Birds than to 1999's Dance The Devil. From the opening acoustic strums and lingering background vocals of "Happy" through "Locusts" and its Donovan-does-"Atlantis" vibe, this record teeters on the dark side, rescued by the stirring John Cale inspired string arrangements of violinist Colm Mac Con Iomaire. Most of the Dublin based foursome's dozen tracks have muted beginnings that swell to intoxicating volumes, as is the band's trademark, with Glen Hansard's uninhibited vocals uniformly at ease with the turbulent "Underglass" and the dreamy, windblown "Ship Caught in the Bay" (seemingly written with Astrud Gilberto in mind). It's an unpredictably bipolar record with plenty of mood swings and emotional shifts that will ultimately leave listeners with feelings of euphoria. --Scott Holter

New Maps of Hell
Bad Religion has for years been considered by new crops of listeners to be a vital band because they're such OG hardcore kingpins. And while the band's justly revered--they've managed to stay together for almost 25 years, all while getting better and growing their audience--"political punk realness" is not where their strengths lie. As to their political numbers, they were never quite able to pen the sort of personal yet timeless anthems that the Minutemen or the Ex did, while in terms of 1-2-3-4 punch, you'd get far more visceral thrills from the first Damned single. Of course, Southern California punk bands injected bushels of melody and hooks into their songs, and B.R. added elements of metal and even psychedelia to their own taut tunes. Their fourteenth album to date, New Maps is a terrific sounding record; at least two-thirds of it begs many repeated listens. The album's second single, "Heroes and Martyrs," is exactly what the band does best. A tightly-coiled and super revved-up anthem, it pits the energy and fast Barre chord sound of the greatest hardcore with a delicious, poppy production and doubled-up backing vocals that brings to mind Queen (or at least Queens of the Stone Age), in the very best way. --Mike McGonigal

Resolved Question: if this was a book would you read it?
Ok I already asked this question before but now I am going to add some things onto it so here it goes.
Mike Scholmyer, age 16, is a nerd with eyes that changed with the weather. One day he was walking home from school waiting for the school bully , Bruce Netgal, to ambush him with his ugly freinds. But when the ambush came Mike was waiting for the punch and Mike felt the earth shift under his feet and Bruce and his friends fell backwards. But, it didn't seem to effect Mike. Mike took this advantage to run home.
When he got home his mom loooked all over his face to see what damage Bruce did this time. When she didn't find anything she announced that he was going to go to a boarding school called Spring Water school for the gifted. When he gets onto the plane he meets a few other kids his age, Alicia, Jake and Austin. They were all going to the same school. But when they sit in there seats they instantly fell asleep. When they woke up they got out of the seats and ran for the door. When they got out it was not charted on any map Mike has ever seen. He would know he was an A+ student in geography. There was a big caslte in front of them with five towers 4 on each corner one red and kind of wavey, one blue and it looked as if it moved like a water fall, one brown that looked normal, one white that didn't touch the ground, then one in the middle that looked like all four but together. But when he gets introduced to a big fat man named Nicklarean Notsew he took them to an old guy named No Name. No Name tells the four that they are balance mages they were the only balance mages for 4 millenia. They all didn't beleive at first but then No Name explains and shows an example of what he can do (fire mage). he explains there are 6 types of mages fire, water, earth, air, balance(all four), and death mages there was only one death mage ever recorded in history and he was evil very evil. So they go to incantation classes and every thing but then the evil death mage comes and hits down the air tower the four have to find out how he did it and kill him right away!!!!
That was just a rough rough draft so even the rough draft will be more detailed so dont critisize me by that I am only 11 years old and want to be an Author now and when I grow up. so give me your opinion:)
oh yeah if you want to give me an idea for No Name's name please tell me.
people I know that it is not good on detail i just want to know if you like the idea for a story like that.
yes mace is a good name for No Name thanks
ok his mom didn't know he was going to a mage school she was actually charmed by another mage to do it get it now???

Open Question: Where can I find, online, maps and graphical representations of California's natural resources?
I have scoured for hours trying to find one for a powerpoint I am doing and I cannot find one that simply shows the different resources in California on a geographical map. I know they exist, because I saw plenty back in middle school Social Studies books... just not sure if anyone has bothered to put one on the internet.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Resolved Question: Why do americans defend islan so much? Will not this question be censored? ?
Everytime the question is about islan, who has an opinion against it gets a lot of thumbs down. Last time I did it I got 11 thumbs down against only 4 ones up. hehe.
Well, since the times of the bible the descedents of Ismael are always starting all wars and attacks. When Israel was proclamed a state, who forget what muslins did? If you read the quran and books of the greatest muslin leaders, guess what you will find... a preaching teaching that the muslins has to kill all the unfaithful (non-muslin) if they don't convert to Allah. About Israel, they say: "we gotta take off Israel of the map". Who made the september 11? The jews or the christians? What about the attacks to Spain and United Kingdom later? Does islan respect humanity even with its terrorists preaching and acts?
Now watch me get a lot of thumbs down again as I was saying lies.

Open Question: munich/prague/budapest itinerary suggestions?
i just booked tickets for munich for this spring. me and my boyfriend will be arriving in Munich on friday march 13th at 8am and we will be leaving monday march 23rd at 6am.
there are a few things we are considering when planning the trip:
1. its our 2 year anniversary on the 15th and we would like to do something special (and private) on that day.
2. we have a friend who is living on Garmisch (sp?) which is an hour away from munich. we would like to see him and maybe stay there a night or two. (but not on our anniversary)
3. i have to go see prague!! i've been dying to go there for as long as i can remember.
4. i would LOVE to visit budapest, but my bf's not too crazy about the idea because its a little far away.
5. i would like to see vienna, but its not a top priority.
6. we aren't rich. we don't have the opportunity to visit europe all the time so we need to get the most bang for our buck.
what i need from you guys is some itinerary idea's. i.e. what should we do each day in order to get the most out of this trip? i don't need terribly detailed plans like sightseeing and whatnot, just what city we should go to on which day, general time we would leave, how we might get there (bus, train) etc.
i google mapped the distances between the cities as well:
munich to prague- 3.5 hrs
prague to budapest- 5 hrs
prague to vienna- 4 hrs
budapest to vienna- 2.5 hrs
budapest to munich- 6 hrs
vienna to munich- 4 hrs
these are driving estimates, not train times so it might be different by train.
feel free to omit things you don't think are practical or would be detrimental to the trip or add things you think would improve it. i'm just looking for other people's advice/perspectives. i've only been to europe twice and have never ventured too far outside the main city i visited (oxford when i went to london, and versailles when i went to paris) so i'm not sure the best way of doing this.
thanks!!
