Creating High-Quality Products in Open Content Virtual Communities - Exploring Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia
The open content movement is enabling the advent of a major turn in information- based products through the enormous potential of collective intelligence. The Linux operating system, the Firefox internet browser, the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, the Public Library of Science, or the MIT's Open- CourseWare project, are all striking successes. What are the factors that contribute to such high-quality products in open content practices? This study uses a group perspective to examine the group factors that lead to high-quality products in open content communities. A theoretical model is developed, based on the Input-Process-Output approach of group research in social psychology and on the Time, Interaction, and Performance Theory proposed by McGrath (1991). A quantitative study of the detailed activity logs of Wikipedia was designed and tested. The analysis should help to answer the questions: - Can a group perspective provide valuable insights in explaining the success of open content projects? What makes open content practices so different from other types of practices? The book is addressed to professionals whose field is related to information-based products, open content and open source communities. It is also directed towards researchers in Business Administration and Social Psychology.

Wikipedia kind of thinks of itself as a Goliath. They tell you how many million posts they have and that they are a foundation and a free encyclopedia.
Of course I think of myself as many things, but not David....maybe Pecos Bill trying to right a wrong.

Oh...and Ron did appear on the 'Raw Power' album...he played bass.
SKY - I couldn't agree with you more on the 'Hall of Fame' thing. But those morons have always had their heads up their a**.
And yeah, Ron was one of the first to really have that proto punk sound...along with Canadian guitarist Paul Rudolph, who played with the UK bands 'The Deviants' (late 60's), and later the 'Pink Fairies' (early 70's). He also replaced Lemmy on bass in Hawkwind, so Paul and Ron have that in common...both began as guitarists, and later played bass.

Oh yes Beatle, I have the box set...it's OK, but there's a ton of filler, like 20 second studio dialogue out takes etc. The 6 disc 'Heavy Liquid' box set was OK too...but again..it gets a little boring hearing 15 different versions of the same song! Lol...great marketing strategy for fanatics.

Voting Question: Google and MSN search have the wrong links?
Whenever I search for something on google or msn, the title& description is right but the link is wrong.
For example:

A free encyclopedia with millions of articles contributed collaboratively using Wiki software, in dozens of languages.

I've also noticed that in the bottom left of my screen, whenever I google something, it will say "waiting for 7.7.7.0"
I've tried Malwarebytes, counterspy, tendmirco housecall and Norton 360v2 to search for any viruses/ spyware/ etc but the problem is still there.
I'm aware that it is a browser hijacker, I've searched everywhere for a solution but haven't found anything.
I don't want others to tell me what kind of problem is on my computer, I just want a solution!

okay hi everyone, I have a problem, I get viruses, even though i dont do bad things, i swear i do not watch porn or even download them.
im not perverted, and i only go to google, myspace,myspace mobile, facebook, youtube, keepvid (download youtube videos), photobucket, gamefaqs, xerocreative (a trading card game board), wikipedia, calcchat (help for calculus homework), typeracer (racing against other people with typing), iminlikewithyou (online games).
i do have an anti-virus, its AVG Free 8.0
i do have an anti spyware, its Spybot Search and Destroy.
i scan regularly and update everyday (if they have updates)
i scan everything i download.
and im just confused at how do i still get viruses??!?!
its amazing, and to me it's a mystery, but there may be some people who have more knowledge of computers than i do, so may someone please give me some tips on how to avoid getting viruses.
oh i also do not use limewire or other file sharing program.

Resolved Question: Why is everyone so biased about the Israel/Palestine war?
I have read a lot of questions about this war on yahoo answers, and it seems to me that everyone has chosen a side and quite aggressively defends it.
But the point of this war is based on questions NO ONE really knows the answer to, which is why it continues.
Palestine was once occupied mainly by Muslim people, over time, more and more Jewish people entered it, mainly to find asylum away from persecution in Europe. This increase in Jewish population got to a point where they wanted independence from Palestine, and a vote from the UN decided the country would be divided. This did not sit well the Palestinians, who had been peacefully occupying the whole country for a long time before all this, and is what started the revolt. The Jewish claim that the land should actually all be rightfully theirs, based on historical religious documents, however the evidence is questionable, and is refuted by just as questionable opposing evidence. Years and years of debate between the 2 nations has escalated into deeply patriotic beliefs where the both sides believe passionately, and are willing to give their lives, that the country should rightfully be theirs.
Feel free to correct me where I am wrong, but I think if any of you do the research you can not irrefutably claim that one side is right and the other is wrong. I think we all agree both sides have used violence and people have sadly lost their lives.
If you make a claim in this section, I would like to see evidence that what you say is true, or at least somewhat accurate.

Like I said, both sides have questionable evidence for why the land should rightfully be theirs. I personally would like patriotism shot down, and for everyone on Earth to consider the whole world their country, and stop trying to own parts of it. Obviously that would come with it's own problems. But if you look at nations of individuals of people just like you and me, and stop generalising them to what country they live in, people everywhere are just trying to survive, raise families and live happy lives.
To the person who said the Jews had the country for 2000+ years (no evidence provided) and then the Palestines had control of it for 1500 years (also no evidence provided), and then that the Jews were reclaiming what is rightfully theirs. Does this apply to the rest of the world or only the Jews are allowed to do it? I live in Australia, should I leave the country with the whole 20 million other people because the Aboriginals want it back. Should the the 300 million Americans go look for somewhere else to "sqwat" since Indians were there before them? What happened in the past to get the land is not something we should be proud of, but in modern day why are there still people trying to forcefully take land.
